Simply Stunning Maxi Dresses
When it comes to packing for a beach vacation or summer trip, maxi dresses are usually at the top of my list! Easy-breezy maxi dresses are a perfect one-and-done outfit. You look pulled together and they are pretty darn effortless. I especially love dresses that can function as a beach coverup too! BUT, maxi dresses aren’t just for vacations. They’re great for BBQs, showers, going out to dinner…all of the above. You can easily dress them up for an evening out with a clutch, strappy sandals, and some statement earrings or throw on some comfy slides and a woven bag…the same dress can be so versatile! Keep scrolling for a few I have my eye on that would be perfect for casual and dressy, spring and summer occasions…AND a beach vacation for sure.

Beach Time No Brainer
This strapless, gauzy dress from Free People pretty much screams beach vacation. I love the strappy back detail and smocked waist (flattering!) It comes in 4 colors including a pretty light lavender and it’s very affordable.
This Staud dress is just so gorgeous! It combines 2 trends – color blocking and cutouts. Notice the cutouts are quite high on the rib cage (not the tummy) which is a very flattering part of a woman’s body. The full skirt offsets the sexy neckline, and the color combo is stunning.
Maybe it’s the strappy one-shoulder detail, but this dress reminds me of a Greek Goddess. The lightweight material is perfect for hot days and the straps are adjustable so you can get that perfect fit. It’s selling out fast so I linked another similar one-shoulder option just in case!
This is one of those maxis that you can wear to the beach or pool with flipflops and a swimsuit and then dress it up for dinner with some wedges. It is sheer, which is totally fine on the beach! But for dinner, you can add coverage by wearing a black, (full or half) slip underneath. It also comes in white.
This Ulla Johnson dress is great if you’re looking for a bit more coverage or protection from the sun. It has tie details at the neck, waist, and sleeves so you can customize the fit. The slight puff sleeve coupled with the cinched waist will give the illusion of that coveted hourglass shape!
All Purpose Maxi
When I talk about one-and-done maxi dresses, this one pretty much takes the cake. It’s incredibly versatile! It’s classy and sophisticated but can also be beachy depending on the accessories you decide to pair with it. Roll up the sleeves and leave it unbuttoned for the perfect poolside coverup.
Ok, this one is a splurge but the pattern and design are just SO beautiful! The volume of the slight puff sleeve and skirt is offset by the strategic waist cutouts. I don’t usually love linen, but the pattern in the dress should help mask any potential wrinkles. I love the sweetheart neckline too because it looks good on everyone. It’s a vacation-ready show-stopper!
Rococo Sand is one of my go-to brands for coverups, but their maxi dresses are just as special. This one is super lightweight and has these sheer metallic fibers woven throughout. It’s feminine and cool but also very elegant.
Affordable & Sexy
Do you remember the Free People bralette I wear in the summer under my gauzy white button-up and off-the-shoulder sweaters? Well, this is the dress version of that bralette. It sure is sexy! The fuller skirt offsets the strappy, applique bodice so you don’t feel too exposed…while looking like a total smoke show. Style it with a denim jacket or cool white blazer for added coverage.
Summer Misa Dress
I recently bought a Misa dress and absolutely love it… But now I’m eyeing this lighter-colored one for summer! If you don’t love your arms, this one offers a bit of coverage but still keeps you cool in warm weather. Because of the low back, you’d need to wear nippies or a bralette like I mention in #9.
Try The Trend!
If you can’t already tell… I’m a big fan of the cutout trend! This dress allows you to try the trend but since the cutout is so small, you’ll only be showing a sliver of skin. It’s a simple dress with beautiful details and…it’s under $100.
Best For Last
I do love ALL of these dresses, but there’s just something about a gorgeous green dress that’s really hard to pass up! When you add in a key-hole detail, cutouts, AND a beautiful pattern like this, it’s the trifecta of maxi dresses.
